But it is rather not the global nature of such projects that is surprising, but the fact that in-game items or territories sometimes cost no less than real and real ones. Many users wonder what is the value of a virtual item if it cannot be touched and used for real. Despite the fact that unique in-game items and various works of art in NFT are in great demand, the most expensive in virtual reality is land. And the more passable and popular the site we consider, the higher its cost. The fact is that in the real world, the cost per square meter will depend largely on the popularity of the city and region. It is the location that decides how high the cost of the territory will be. For example, a hectare of land in Cameroon will cost us $500, that is, 4 rubles per square meter. And in New York, the cost of one square meter is about 400,000 rubles. We see the same pricing in the metaverse. If your site is in a popular and active area, you will have to pay a lot of money to acquire it. First on our list is Tokens Corp. For their purchase of 116 lots in the Decentraland game, they gave away 618,000 MANA (the internal token of the metaverse). Second on our list of expensive purchases was a Genesis-type lot in the Axie Infinity metaverse. The buyer wished to remain anonymous, but the territory itself is special in that there are only 220 of this type of land in the game. This purchase cost the user 550 WETH (the internal token of the metaverse), if converted into dollars at the current exchange rate at the time of the transaction, we will get $2,330,000.
In third and fourth place are two sites in the Decentraland metaverse. The first of them cost the buyer 210,000 MANA, and the amount in dollars was $1,090,000. A little more is known about the second site: it is located far from the well-known and popular areas, located in the Dragon Kingdom. It is unique in that it is considered a place filled with Chinese cultural treasures, and the land here is rebuilt in the appropriate style. The purchase cost the user 1,300,000 MANA or $914,000.
Two more lands on the Decentraland platform cost users a little cheaper compared to previous examples. The non-fungible Coliseum token, which has a premium status, was sold to the player for 225,000 MANA or $756,000. And then a no less famous territory with number 144 out of 10,005 was sold. The land has the shape of a square and left the auction for 759,000 MANA or $709,000.
And now the absolute record holder on our list: in 2022, the investor company Curzio Research announced its acquisition in the form of a large territory in the not-so-famous, but promising TCG World metaverse. The firm has acquired 19 virtual territories for commercial purposes and another 19 sites of various sizes in the city. The founder of Curzio Research said in a statement that they believe metaverses are the future of the Internet, a place where people can freely acquire and own virtual assets without restrictions, and most importantly create them themselves. Curzio Research is going to create a virtual office for important clients within the metaverse and hold meetings with investors, create events, seminars and publish unique content in it. The deal cost the company $5,000,000.
We have analyzed the list of the most expensive purchases in the metaverses and conclude that the virtual territory is valued no less than the real one. At the same time, it brings a good income to the owner, and territories in well-known premium areas are always in short supply. Assets in the metaverse are valued by investors as a real business for both newcomers and established companies. However, it is worth remembering the risks, because this market is still young and changeable. For example, Decentraland, Axie Infinity, and Sandbox are popular metaverses where the real estate market is already skyrocketing, and the price of tokens rises to a peak, then falls. But new virtual worlds are constantly opening up that can match the giants in their capabilities, such as TCG World. This means that you should definitely follow uptrends in order to have time to choose a profitable and promising project for investment.
