Research from Elympics reveals factors influencing Web3's rise in popularity

Elympics recently conducted research from September 7 to 10, identifying key elements that facilitate the adoption of Web3-based games.

The survey, which included around 1,000 gamers worldwide, found that social platforms like Telegram and competitive gaming mechanics play a significant role in boosting interest in Web3 games.

Financial incentives and easy access to games continue to attract a growing number of players from various demographics to the Web3 space.

What Did the Research Uncover?

According to the survey results, 79% of respondents play games daily, with 54% preferring to do so through social networks, including Telegram. Mobile games such as FC Mobile and Brawl Stars are significant for 16% of users' gaming activities. This underscores the importance of accessibility and ease of entry as critical factors for the adaptation of Web3 games.

The study also indicated that 42% of players see the ability to earn money through gaming as their primary motivation. Simultaneously, 65% of participants highlighted competitive spirit, especially the “play-to-earn” mechanics, as the main draw to these games. Additionally, 14% of gamers cited community engagement as a key reason for their interest in Web3.

"Recent years have seen significant changes in the gaming industry driven by blockchain technology. However, the complexity of registering for Web3 games has become a barrier for many experienced gamers," commented Tom Koper, COO of Elympics. "Our research indicates that with the emergence of platforms like Telegram and the development of community-driven games with financial rewards, Web3 games are starting to be widely embraced by players around the world. We aim to create games that fulfill the desire to compete. We believe blockchain games can foster a competitive and profitable ecosystem, making mobile gaming an essential part of digital life."

Despite the positive feedback, the study also identified obstacles for those still unfamiliar with Web3. About 11% of participants noted that issues with cryptocurrency and wallets hinder their involvement. Furthermore, some respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of existing Web3 games.
